I don’t feel secure sitting on the edge of the Purple and, lying down near the edge of both mattresses, I feel a bit like I might roll off. ![]() Can they sit or lie down near the edge without feeling like they will fall off the mattress?Įdge support is not really a highlight of either mattress. If someone is looking for a couples mattress, they should also think about how much of the mattress they can really utilize. See more of what I thought about Purple’s firmness and feel in the video below. The mattress has no real bounce and the memory foam is not very responsive, so it won’t be as easy to move around on the Loom & Leaf. The Loom & Leaf, on the other hand, has a classic memory foam feel that feels firm at first, but that memory slowly softens and allows you to sink in. Most people shouldn’t have issues moving around on the mattress or switching positions. It is responsive and has some very nice bounce to it. The Purple has a unique squishy gel feel that is firm and pressure relieving at the same time. Moving to my stomach, the mattress is a bit too soft for me. However, after a moment, the memory foam softens and I feel the pressure on my shoulders and hips disappear. When I am side sleeping, the mattress feels firm at first. I don’t sink in too far, and the foam contours to the curves of my body. On the Loom & Leaf, I also feel nice support when I am back sleeping. On my stomach, the mattress supports me quite well. I don’t think I am heavy enough to really activate the gel grid. However, when I moved to my side, the mattress felt a bit firm to me. In my experience, the Purple felt great when I was on my back, as the mattress collapsed under my butt and hips but stayed flat and supportive across the rest of my body. Heavier people should collapse that gel, so the mattress should feel softer to them. Lighter-weight people might not be heavy enough to really activate the gel grid, so it might feel firmer to them. However, people might have a different experience on the Purple depending on their weight. ![]() In terms of firmness, the Purple felt like a 7/10, and the Loom and Leaf felt close to a 6.5/10. The Loom & Leaf features very high-density foams that should also stand up to many years of wear and tear. The Purple’s hyper-elastic gel polymer shouldn’t sag the way some foams do. Both mattresses are very durable and should be great long-lasting investments. The gel grid promotes quite a bit of airflow, so it should be a more temperature neutral mattress. The Purple is a more breathable mattress than the Loom & Leaf.Since it only collapses under the heavier parts of the body, it should be supportive for back sleepers and stomach sleepers, and pressure relieving when they are on their side. The gel grid makes the Purple a good fit for all three sleeping positions. When this happens, the gel grid collapses in the specific area where someone has applied the weight. The Purple’s hyper-elastic gel polymer is very unique in that it stays flat and supportive until someone applies enough pressure. The multiple layers of memory foam give the Loom & Leaf that classic memory foam feel that is slow-moving and allows people to sink into the mattress. The foam should conform to the precise curves of the body. ![]() The Loom & Leaf contains high-density memory foams that should be great at contouring.Watch Our Video Review Construction Differences/Notes
